Whales are air breathing mammals that roam the oceans and are known for their large size. Seeing them underwater is a life changing experience. Nothing compares making eye contact with an animal this size. Experienced in whale swims all over the world, we follow a strict animal-led approach. So when we see them underwater they are usually relaxed and welcoming to our presence.

2025

Swimming with whales is not particularly difficult. It just takes patience because wild animals do not plan their day around us. When we find the target species we  approach the animals slowly and carefully - our priority zero impact on their behaviour. The boat will stop at a reasonable distance from the whale, turn off engines and we glide into the water gently hopping the animals will keep swimming in our direction. It takes a few tries but we usually get it right!

Our approach centers on ethical ocean encounters, where the well-being of marine animals takes precedence. Our guides prioritize acclimating the whales to our presence before initiating any swimming. Guests are briefed to understand that encounters are not forced, and we may choose to abort a swim if there’s any risk of distress to the animals.

Our philosophy prioritizes quality over quantity, striving to deliver fewer yet more meaningful and extended encounters with marine life. These immersive experiences will ultimately foster a deeper connection and understanding between you and the ocean and its inhabitants.

All our expeditions are chartered experiences so you will only be in the water with our other guests. The expedition is lead by our experienced "Insiders" who will manage your experience and enrich it with knowledge and presentations. Our Insiders coach you on how to swim with animals and take photos and videos that are shared with you at the end of the trip.

I just went to Norway in 2023 for my first time with Insider Divers and it was EPIC to say the very least. I felt like I was on a real life episode of National Geographic. I'm an avid diver and have been lucky enough to have had many adventures and this was the best experience of my life thus far which is saying A LOT. Simon spent so much time with me on the phone giving me advice about places to dive/travel/back pack etc. He really takes the time to understand you and your wishes and provide the best experience- even if it's not with his company. 10/10 recommend going with Insider only if you want to have an EPIC experience, thank you Simon and the rest of the team!!

I have booked my next trip to Komodo already and I cannot wait!

Simon's organization and communication pre-trip and during the trip is more than you could possibly ask for. His research into the various dive sites in the world guarantees you are going to be in the right part of the world at the right time with the most professional operators in the area. I loved the talks and presentations in the evenings and I learned a tremendous amount about photography and marine biology. Also, Simon is a very skilled photographer and he took several of me that I will cherish.

I just got back from Humpback whales excursions in Tonga with Insider Divers, and it was truly unforgettable!

Group leader Simon gave us an amazing experience, several talks about whales and humpbacks in particular.

And he took GORGEOUS photos of me and my fiancee and the whales, that I will treasure for the rest of my life!

He also made sure we were well taken care of every single day! Currently dreaming of their Socorro trip for the future!
